ASE Scotland is the Scottish Region of the Association for Science Education; the largest subject professional association in the UK.

Aims

The main aims of of ASE Scotland are to promote science education by:

bulletsupporting teachers, lecturers and technicians in the delivery of the science curriculum and in their own professional development;
bulletexpressing authoritative opinions on science education and
bulletproviding a means of communication between all those involved in science education in order that they may share each other's expertise and good practice.

 

What ASE Scotland Offers

In order to achieve these aims ASE Scotland:

bulletholds an Annual Conference over a weekend each spring;
bulletholds a number one day conferences and seminars on specific topics;
bulletholds a series of local meetings organised by six Sections around the country;
bulletpublishes a newsletter, Scottish Science Issues, five times per year;
bulletorganises responses to all relevant consultations by SQA, HSDU, Scottish CCC etc;
bulletnominates members to SQA and Scottish CCC for selection for committees and
bulletmaintains this website.

In addition ASE Scotland members receive all the benefits of ASE UK-wide membership including:

bulletjournals for Primary, Secondary and Tertiary members;
bulleta three day Annual Meeting each January and
bulletdiscounts on insurance and publications.
